WELCOME BACK WARRIORS AND LUMBERJACKS!!!

Hey everyone! I hope you are as excited about this new year in ORCHESTRA as I am! We are going to have a fantastic year!

Orchestra Notes:

YOUR FIRST CONCERT IS MONDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. in the WAUSAU EAST HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM. Please mark your calendars!

We will be wrapping up our first fundraiser this week. Your Dutch Mill Bulbs flyer and money for orders taken is due during class on Monday, September 19, 2011.

Make sure that you are bringing your pencils to class every day! You should probably stash an extra pencil or two in your orchestra folder.

Remember to sign up to follow this blog. You may also want to have your parents follow the blog to keep in the loop!

iPad Composition Project - FUSION - Coming to your Orchestra classroom soon! You will need earbuds or headphones in class every day for our project. If you need some and cannot afford them, please contact Mrs. Hornby ASAP!

Christmas Caroling - Adv. & Warrior Orchestras

On Friday, December 17, 2010 members of the East Advanced Orchestra and the West Warrior Orchestra will go Christmas Caroling at two locations:

4:00 p.m. Wellington Place, 4100 N. Mountain Road, Wausau, WI 54401

4:45 p.m. Aspirus Hospice House, 530 N. 32nd Ave., Wausau, WI 54401

This is considered a volunteer event like ringing bells for the Salvation Army. Students are expected to arrange their own transportation to and from these performances.

Please wear your uniform, bring a wire stand, your instrument, and music. Get ready to have some fun and spread some cheer!

Possible post party with pizza dinner?

BANDSTOCK 2010 at West











October 25, 2010 ALL CITY ORCHESTRA FESTIVAL

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Wausau East High School in the Auditorium on Monday night.

Rehearsal will begin promptly at 6:45 p.m. in the East Orchestra Room K139.

Daytime rehearsals will be from 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 at East. Clinic with Dr. Miles at 8:30 a.m. You are responsible for all work missed on Monday... Make sure to work ahead over the weekend!

THANK YOU to all who auditioned for solos on Monday. Keep up the great work and leadership!

Alternative Styles Day at UW-Whitewater

Are you looking for a fun way to spend Mrs. Hornby's birthday? If so... the UW-Whitewater Alternative Syles Day might be just the thing for you! On Saturday, October 16, 2010 you could participate in workshops and performances that will develop your ability to play alternitive styles on your string instrument like: Jazz, Rock, Mariachi, Fiddling, Electric Strings, and Latin Music.

10:30 Intro to Improv
11:30 Lunch
12:30 Improv Classes
1:30 Styles Class
2:30 Eclectic Strings Performance Clinic or Advanced Improv Skills
